Susan moved to North Georgia after college, has lived in Hall County with her husband for over twenty years and has two teenage sons. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in history from Alma College, in mid-Michigan in 1986, and her law degree from the University of Georgia in 1989.
Susan clerked for the Honorable Richard W. Story for three years following law school in the Superior Court of Hall County, assisting the court in all aspects of criminal and civil cases. Susan has been in private practice in Gainesville for eighteen years, practicing almost exclusively in domestic relations and juvenile matters in Hall, Dawson, Lumpkin, White, and surrounding counties.
Susan provides representation to our clients in divorces (contested and uncontested), child custody, visitation, and child support, alimony, modification of child support, custody, visitation, legitimation and paternity actions, post divorce issue, grandparent and third party custody, grandparent visitation, custody matters involving the Uniform Child Custody Jurisdiction and Enforcement Act; and Juvenile Court matters.
Susan specializes in adoption cases. She has assisted numerous birth parents and adoptive parents in the adoption process over the years, and handles adoptions involving private placement, agencies, interstate, international and step-parent adoption.
In addition, Susan is a registered general civil and domestic mediator and registered arbitrator. She has conducted mediation since 2007, finding mediation to be a valuable tool in amicable resolution of domestic disputes.
Susan's professional training includes serving as a prompter, training other Georgia attorneys in use of the Child Support Calculators implemented in 2007 and as a presenter for the Georgia Supreme Court Juvenile Justice Project in 2008.
